Haiti (2010) – Participated in medical relief effort in Port Au Prince Haiti after the earthquake

that devastated the country. I Joined the field hospital managed by the University of Miami

(Project Metashare). During this time, I was able to participate in >75 operative procedures. In

addition, I was responsible for the establishment of a trauma unit, a blood bank and a SICU

at the field hospital.

Ecuadorian Amazon (2001) – Attended a small clinic in the community of Mondaña on the

banks of the river Napo in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest. This allowed me to develop

many new skills, e.g. treating patients with snakebites. The unforeseen retirement of the clinic

doctor made me the only person with medical knowledge in the area. I was therefore asked

to take full responsibility for all patient care for the entire community and neighboring villages.
